MotoGP to move Australian race to Adelaide

MotoGP have annouced that the Australian Grand Prix will move from the iconic Philip Island circuit to a street circuit in Adelaide.

It will be hosted in the city centre of Adelaide from 2027 as the first of its kind event for the sport.

In a six-year agreement, it will see the sport race there until 2032.

The design of the track follows the blueprint of the street circuit that held the infamous Formula 1 races from 1985 to 1995, and with riders reaching speeds of over 340km/h, significant adjustments are required to make rider safety a number one priority.

Speaking to MotoGP, Chief Sporting Officer, Carlos Ezpeleta, said: “Bringing MotoGP to Adelaide marks a major milestone in the evolution of our championship.

“From the very beginning, together with the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme), we made sure that safety remained uncompromised.”

The Grand Prix will be held over three days in November 2027.
