The morning session was busy, with aero rakes coming out, plenty of flo vis paint being put on the cars, and Ferrari’s new rear wing being shown to the world. It was a packed session.
George Russell topped the lap counter with 77 laps completed. Although Ferrari showcased their new rear wing, Lewis Hamilton only managed six laps.
He is, however, back in the car this afternoon, so hopefully they can manage some more laps.
With these cars being smaller, its intention is that it will throw of a smaller amount of dirty air.
Drivers are now testing this over the course of the next few days. Norris and Russell have been trying to follow each other closely to see if they compromise themselves with how close they follow.
During the last 10 minutes of each test session, the circuit has some race control tests to do such as VSC, SC, red flag and yellow flags. This is to ensure eveything is working the way it should and Race Control know what is working and what isn’t.
After Race Control tests, the drivers queue up in the pit lane to get ready for the standing start to get test out the new starting system.
At the end of the morning session, its Norris with the fastest time followed by Verstappen then Russell.
